2011 February - The Oak Tree

This inspirational poem was read
by Elder M. Russell Ballard during
our mission meeting with him.

The Oak Tree by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr.

A mighty wind blew night and day
It stole the oak tree's leaves away
Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark
Until the oak was tired and stark.

But still the oak tree held its ground
While other trees fell all around
The weary wind gave up and spoke
How can you still be standing Oak?

The oak tree said, I know that you
Can break each branch of mine in two
Carry every leaf away
Shake my limbs, and make me sway

But I have roots stretched in the earth
Growing stronger since my birth
You'll never touch them, for you see
They are the deepest part of me

Until today, I wasn't sure
Of just how much I could endure
But now I've found, with thanks to you
I'm stronger than I ever knew.

  1. Hello elders, is there a way I can reach your Mission President? we are the Miza family and we are the producers of those "tipico" scripture covers since more than 20 yrs ago, most of the missionaries buy very expensive copies of our product, we have a stand at the Guat North Mission office with very fair missionary prices, my email. legadoindustrias@gmail.com

  2. Could our RS (here in FL.) provide a Humanitarian service of some kind to your area? Need of blankets, quilts, packets of (some/any) kind?, toys, books, ... etc. Please let me know!
I love your blog - especially seeing the lit up faces of our missionaries! Thank you for your service!
SENDING HUGS to OUR elder, AND all the others, too!
